FRESH KICKS: PUMA & ADIDAS

Hong Kong street artist Michael Lau has teamed up with PUMA to produce a colorful, distinctive iteration of the brand’s iconic shoe, dubbed the “Sample Suede.” Taking inspiration from a variety of places such as prototype sneakers, which accounts for the shoe’s mismatched colorway, the design also references the PUMA Suede’s long-running history with previous colorways and captures Michael Lau’s vividly unique style.
Those lucky enough to get their hands on a pair will also find a limited edition “Worth Cat” figurine, Michael Lau’s reinterpretation of the famous PUMA logo.
Releasing on November 23 and priced at $1,990 HKD (approximately $256 USD), a limited run of 200 pairs will go on sale at the PUMA Flagship on Fashion Walk Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, while a handpicked retailer in Taiwan and China will each get 25 pairs. Scroll through the gallery above for a better look at the shoes and cat figurine.

The Three Stripes is back with another intriguing model. Normally we’d expect the adidas EQT ADV to be delivered in a more casual light. This time around adidas takes the model to the basketball court with a new name. Dubbed the adidas EQT Bask ADV, its height is raised to a mid-cut form as it sports grey coloring throughout. The sneaker see green detailing placed on its heel while its midsole is presented in white.
Retailing for $140 USD, the adidas EQT ADV is expected to hit select adidas retailers and online in February of 2018.

Trailing behind the snakeskin motif is adidas Originals’ new off-white rendition of the popular EQT Support ADV model. Additionally, the low-top trainer is further embellished with brown and tactical yellow accents for a balanced look. For construction details, the sneaker boasts breathable mesh uppers, suede panels, TPU overlays, integrated webbing tape, and its signature EVA midsole.

adidas‘ EQT Cushion ADV has received countless colorways this year, even just this week, a new “Cargo Camo” iteration was unveiled, but that hasn’t stopped adidas from gearing up for Black Friday with its latest “Triple Black” silhouette. Black Friday is perhaps the most infamous unofficial holiday of the year — a time when clothes, sneakers and electronics have their prices slashed — sending consumers into a state of panicked delirium. In recent years, brands have started to mark the post-Thanksgiving bedlam as a time to drop notable new kicks, and this year adidas is providing a Black Friday EQT special.
Wrapped in “Triple Black,” the revamped version of the ’90s EQT Series runner is built around a knit upper that boasts a grey 8-bit patterning. The knit upper is supported by a pigskin nubuck quarter panel, the signature TPU cage and a cushy EVA midsole. The look is completed with a black ridged outsole that adds additional traction. Look for these murdered-out sneakers to hit adidas retailers on November 24 with a price tag of $140 USD.

PUMA has recently unleashed its newest silhouette — arriving in the form of the Jamming Cushion model. The initial offering comes dressed in a deep “Forest Night” color scheme and boasts an intricately-woven knit upper, with speckled detailing found throughout. Other notable features include the distinct lacing structure and a transparent midsole packed with jamming pebbles — providing a truly unique cushioning system. Although price has still yet to be confirmed, PUMA’s new design will make its way to such retailers as Titolo in the near future.
