For 2018, longstanding German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne delivers an updated 1815 Tourbillon wristwatch with a white enamel dial. Contrasting 2017’s 1815 Chronograph with a black dial, this timepiece sports a white face with a 39.5mm platinum case, blue steel hands, a red “12” marker, a movement that beats at 3Hz, and a 72-hour power reserve.
In explaining the brand’s reasoning behind this limited-edition watch, Director of Product Development at A. Lange & Sohne, Anthony de Haas, said, “The enamel dial accentuates the classic design, which is adapted from Lange’s pocket watches with their Arabic numerals, chemin de fer minute scale and blued steel hands. The basic idea was to build a credible bridge from the origins of watchmaking to the present.”
Limited to just 100, the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Tourbillon “White Enamel” is priced at $197,200 USD.
As a part of its “Speedy Tuesday” offering, Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has produced a limited edition 42 mm timepiece inspired by the 1966 series Ultraman. The timepiece has an abundance of 1970’s Japanese sci-fi reference, and even shares a distinction with the OMEGA’s 1967 “Moonwatch.”
The watch made an appearance in the fourth installment of the series called The Return of Ultraman for its orange seconds hand and the new Ultraman piece dons that same hand, embracing the same dimensions and shade of orange. As an extension of this theme, the new watch also features a black/orange bezel in anodized aluminum. The first three minutes of the timepiece is in orange as an homage to Ultraman’s ability to only stay in superhero-mode for 3 minutes.
On the seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, there’s a hidden silhouette of Ultraman’s profile, which is revealed by a special tool available with the watch. The strap changer features a UV lamp at one end identical to Ultraman’s Beta Capsule that reveals an imaged highlighted over the dial. Limited to just 2,012 pieces, the OMEGA Speedmaster 42 mm “Ultraman” can be reserved on OMEGA’s online store for $7100 USD.
After exploring several statement accessories spotlighting its now famed angry cat caricature, it appears that Gucci is moving back to yet another familiar animal motif. The high-end luxury label once again revisits its “Kingsnake” graphic with a winding serpent image engulfing a luxe Le Marché Des Merveilles watch — from its upscale jewelry line — moving from the band to the face.
Fashioned from light green leather, the Swiss-made timepiece features a steel-studded case & bezel, ETA quartz movement, and a silver-tone metal buckle closure. Priced at $948 USD, you can find this new Gucci watch at such retailers as matchesfahion.com.
OMEGA dives deep inside the archives for its latest collection of wristwatches. Named the “First OMEGA Wrist-
Chronograph Limited Edition,” the collection is comprised of 18 watches that act as reissues of an original watch that dates back to 1913. Thanks largely to the OMEGA Museum, the 18 watches all receive authentic, 105-year-old refurbished Calibre 18’’’ CHRO movements (one of the earliest reliable wrist-chronograph movements).

Working off the century-old movement, OMEGA improved upon the watch by incorporating some of its modern techniques and innovations — all while keeping the watch classic. The large 47.5mm case, coupled with a large Arabic numeral dial is a nod towards a prominent watch design seen during WWI, and often worn by aviators due to its high level of readability. Other details include a hinge-back case, 15-minute counters, riveted leather strap, blued “Empire” hands, and 18K white gold case. Both the crown and pusher are made in OMEGA’s 18K Sedna gold, where the crown is located at the typical 3 o’clock position, but the pusher is found at the 6 o’clock position — a detail that dates back to the early days of pocket watches.
Swiss watchmaker Krayon has improved on its Everywhere Horizon watch with a new diamond-encrusted variant. First debuted last year, the timepiece offers 85 jewels, a 22k gold automatic micro rotor and 94 baguette diamonds across its case. These shiny additions aren’t the watch’s primary selling point, however; the Everywhere Horizon is one of the few mechanical timepieces that can calculate sunrise and sunset times accurate to your specific location, regardless of location. Once the latitude, longitude, local UTC time zone and date/month are input, the precise movements of the sun will be revealed on the outer dial. Krayon emphasized the watch’s groundbreaking functionality, noting, “a universal mechanical calculator that gives the exact sunrise and sunset times” is unprecedented in the field of mechanical watches.
Head to Krayon’s website for more information on the label’s timepieces, including the Everywhere Horizon. Prices for the customizable watch begin at $600,000 USD.
