Lu Xinjian Depicts Shanghai’s Vibrant Cityscape
Advancing his City DNA series, Chinese artist Lu Xinjian moves from painting his unique cityscape depictions to creating a vibrant fluorescent light installation. Using Google Earth imagery as a blueprint, the artist reimagines an aerial view of Shanghai in his signature abstract style. To represent the city’s rapid growth as China’s most populated metropolis, Xinjian uses a flash program to expand the illuminated area until it engulfs the entire rectangular piece. This installation is showing in Art Labor‘s “I Love Shanghai” exhibit until January 5, 2014.
