$2.5 Million 1971 Lamborghini Miura SVJ Goes up for Auction

Despite only coming into this world as a pet project of Lamborghini engineers in the 1960s (who began building the first prototype in their spare time!) the Miura went on to become one of the Italian manufacturer’s most sought after cars after it debuted at the 1965 Turin Salon. While it was always considered perfect for racing, the Miura was never actually backed by Lamborghini as an official race car, and the limited editrion SVJ is as close as it ever got to being track ready. With a widened chassis, 440 bhp v12 engine and plexiglass windows, this leaner, lighter version of the car has remained an incredibly rare collector’s item – as evidenced by the $2-2.6 million price tag attached to it at auction.

Still, for die-hard Lambo fans, that’s a price worth paying. If you consider yourself amongst that bunch, click here to register for bidding.
