FRESH WHIPS:

Rain Prisk 4x4 Toyota Supra Concept
With all the excitement surrounding the release of the upcoming 2020 Toyota Supra, many automotive enthusiasts have taken it upon themselves to mock up what other creations could come from the new chassis.
A new concept render comes from Rain Prisk, a junior vehicle artist at Ubisoft Reflections Studio. In his creation, an off-road 4×4 version of the Supra was imagined. In the image we can see the artist has opened up the fenders to make clearance for the beefy off-road tires, added a running board, two hooks, a winch, a snorkel, a roof rack, and a front skid plate. Those interested in seeing more of Rain Prisk’s Supra creations can head over to his portfolio page where he displays his love for 4×4 vehicles and shooting breaks.

After releasing detailed images of its upcoming LiveWire motorcycle this past November, Harley-Davidson followed up first thing this year by giving it a nearly $30,000 USD price tag. Though the unit isn’t set to release until fall 2019, the American manufacturer is pushing ahead with bolstering its portfolio of electric models and has recently unveiled two new concepts.
Harley-Davidson first showcased the bikes at the X Games Aspen, which took place from January 24-27. While one style takes on more of a scooter-like aesthetic, the other employs a silhouette reminiscent to that of a dirt bike. Both are intended to be lightweight options that convey the brand’s “expertise in expressive two-wheeled experiences and push boundaries in design and technology.” With these editions, the company aims to offer a modernized vehicle that won’t require a motorcycle license and can, therefore, open up the market to a wider audience.
The lightweight frame on the bikes is intended to provide enhanced agility, maneuverability and ease of use throughout the riding experience. Electric powertrains are in place for instant acceleration, while the removable battery allows it to be taken out and charged with any standard household power outlet. The company emphasizes that the strategy behind the two concepts is to “grow the next generation of Harley-Davidson riders globally and is a key component in H-D’s vision of the future of urban mobility.”
Thus far, neither model has been named nor priced.
In other electric automotive news, Electra Meccanica’s Solo microcar is soon entering the market.

This Tesla Competitor Wants You to Consume Media byton m-byte suv huge screen binge watch netflix podcasts movies music games chinese ev company 325-mile range 95 kwh battery 48-inch screen widescreen
Chinese-based EV company Byton is well aware of the current era’s focus on big screens and easily accessible media — so much so that it has incorporated arguably the largest screen ever seen in a vehicle for its upcoming M-Byte SUV.

The Tesla competitor totes a mammoth-sized 48-inch screen across the dashboard, which is both gesture-controlled and Baidu-enabled. But the manufacturers didn’t just stop at one screen, implementing another 8-inch screen on the steering wheel, another between the driver and passenger seats, and optional add-on screens on the headrests for backseat passengers to utilize.
The company is conscious of the current user-experience surrounding newly-developed vehicles, and have made a uniquely custom interface that’s able to sync with its mobile app. CEO Daniel Kirchert stated at its U.S. headquarters in Santa Clara that they envision the car as being another part of daily tech, envisioning it as if it was a second phone, “you won’t be even tempted to take out your device,” he said cheekily. The unique interface implements a user-tailored experience, allowing for navigation, reading texts and emails, getting restaurant or movie time information, and more.
However, this isn’t just a one-of-a-kind deal — the new wave of consumers are here and many car manufacturers are taking note. Toyota recently embraced Android Auto, Netflix-esque service HOOQ implemented ad-filled trivia games in Southeast Asian Grab cars, Cargo’s partnership with SeatGeek in Uber rides, IBM’s recent partnership with Harley-Davidson’s newly revealed electric motorcycle, Honda’s recently revealed backseat entertainment platform, and even Audi collaborating with Disney to spotlight car-based VR entertainment. The new wave is undoubtedly here — but whether or not it’s safe is the only question that really remains.
