UPDATE (May 6, 2021): Yayoi Kusama and Veuve Clicquot are returning with a restock for fans who missed the initial release of their collaborative champagne bottle and gift box.
Arriving just in time for Mother’s Day, the limited-edition design is comprised of the La Grande Dame, a champagne that celebrates the legacy of Madame Clicquot. Here, Kusama adds her iconic motifs for a touch of joy and optimism. In addition to the restock, Veuve Clicquot and Kusama will be unveiling champagne and food pairings, and a new sculpture at the New York Botanical Garden this spring.
Priced at $195 USD, the Yayoi Kusama x Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame is available for purchase at select stores.
ORIGINAL STORY (September 9, 2020): While continuing to showcase her work around the world, Yayoi Kusama has now joined forces with Veuve Clicquot Champagne for a limited-edition bottle and gift box. The creative’s famous polka dot designs are splashed onto the French house’s La Grande Dame.
The upcoming release follows Kusama and Veuve Clicquot’s previous collaboration back in 2006, where the artist recreated a portrait of the maison’s founder, Madame Clicquot. “It is with its iconic symbols, that Yayoi Kusama adorns La Grande Dame 2012 case and bottle. The opulent flower symbolizes vital energy, love and celebration of life. The polka dots, Yayoi Kusama’s signature patterns are reworked like champagne bubbles to embody La Grande Dame 2012,” an official press release reads.
The box is dressed with a bold color palette of yellow, blue and green, with a flower motif printed at the front. The bottle is adorned with an orange-yellow label with black polka dots. In addition to the gift boxes, which are priced at $195 USD, Kusama has created floral sculptures that can fit a magnum bottle of La Grande Dame that retails for $36,000 USD.
The Yayoi Kusama x Veuve Clicquot collaboration will be going on pre-sale beginning September 17 and is set to hit shelves in October. You can head over to the French champagne label’s websiteto learn more.

Earlier this year, the New York Botanical Garden announced an exhibition dedicated to Yayoi Kusama. After much anticipation, the contemporary Japanese artist’s works are now available for the public to appreciate.
Kusama’s monumental floral sculptures and immersive pieces are placed around the 250-acre garden. Standout installations include the Narcissus Garden located at the Native Plant Garden, as well as the Ascension of Polka Dots on the Trees showcasing trees dressed in Kusama’s signature polka dot motif.
Additionally, the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory displays seasonal progressions of violas, salvias, zinnias, chrysanthemums and other colorful flowers alongside Kusama’s sculptures like the Hymn of Life—Tulips, which can be found in the Conservatory Courtyard Hardy Pool. Elsewhere, the Pumpkins Screaming About Love Beyond Infinity is situated in the Visitor Center gallery. Guests can also expect a new Infinity Mirrored Room experience later in the summer.
