It’s hard to believe that fashion is just a hobby for Rihanna. The chart-topping pop star not only has a hold on the music and beauty industries but she also moonlights as a style icon. Her Weekend One Coachella 2018 look almost shut down the Internet causing the word “balaclava” to trend for 48 hours. Masks are nothing new to Fenty who chooses to sport the accessory every once in a while for additional edge. We’ve rounded up a few of her best mask looks to serve as inspo for Weekend Two of the desert music festival.
Keep scrolling to follow the history of Rih and her love for masks.

Coachella 2018

Gucci‘s full-face balaclava became the talk of the town after Rihanna sported the item with earrings and sparkly eyelids. She paired the mask with a full outfit straight from the brand’s runway mixing and matching prints to create one of the most talked about celebrity looks.

Coachella 2017

For 2017 Rihanna had to double up on the masks. The first was a part of a rhinestone Gucci bodysuit from the Fall 2017 collection. She styled the fit with Fenty PUMA‘s chunky black boots and a pair of pearl sunnies. Following her appearance even Kim Kardashian and Frank Ocean had to jump on the trend. She followed up the look with a Matthew Adams Dolan denim jacket and coordinating jeans that she paired with a bedazzled surgical mask.

AnOther Magazine Cover February 2015

For the February 2015 cover of AnOther magazine, photography duo Inez and Vinoodh referenced vintage photos of Bianca Jagger to create a unique frame. Stylists Katy England paired a geometric face mask with her fringe hair cut forming a stunning profile.

Fenty PUMA Trainer Campaign

A visor can double as an eye cover, hat and everything in between. To introduce the Fenty PUMA Trainer, Rihanna wore an oversized silver visor to pair with her metallic jacket.

JAY-Z’s ”Run This Town” Video

2013 marked the year that Rihanna fully transitioned from pop good girl to “BadGirlRiRi.” Sporting her signature pixi cut, she donned a cotton face cover-up to match the dystopian theme of the shoot.
