Ariana Grande is the latest star to grace the cover of ELLE magazine‘s August issue. In the cover story, the singer speaks candidly about her life following the Manchester “Dangerous Woman” tour concert which took 22 lives and injured 500 fans. Grande has kept herself quite busy following the traumatic incident. Despite the instance, she has been working on her highly anticipated album, Sweetener.
During the profile, Ariana speaks about the fierce women in her family that have paved the way for her including her mother, Joan and her grandmother, Nonna. Both women have played an instrumental role in shaping the star into the 25-year-old outspoken, feminist woman she is currently.
Grande expands on what led to the One Love Manchester Concert which ended up raising $23 million USD for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund:
“You hear about these things. You see it on the news, you tweet the hashtag. It’s happened before, and it’ll happen again. It makes you sad, you think about it for a little, and then people move on. But experiencing something like that firsthand, you think of everything differently… Everything is different.”
Later in the feature, Grande sheds light on her ongoing battle with anxiety following the terrorist attack. Her feelings led to her creating the final track on Sweetener, “Get Well Soon.” She even admits that after the incident, she felt “upside down.” This year alone, Ariana has attended her first Met Gala in custom Vera Wang and went public with her engagement to actor Pete Davidson.
Grande’s fourth studio album Sweetener is set to drop on August 17. She has released the single “No Tears Left To Cry” and the track “the light is coming” in preparation of the album drop date. Head to ELLE to read the entire feature.
