ART: More Than 50,000 Fans Petition For Live-Action 'Cowboy Bebop' Season 2

“It wasn’t a direct copy of the anime but the world they put together was amazing and deserve a second season,” reads the description of the petition over on change.org which has now amassed almost 53,000 signatures as of writing. The show debuted to massive popularity, racking up 74 million hours watched over the first week, but the figures quickly declined afterward, dropping by a staggering 59%. Netflix ultimately decided to ax the show after just one season, leaving many to mourn over its loss, including the show’s creative team.

“I truly loved working on this,” the show’s co-executive producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach said on Twitter after Netflix’s decision. “It came from a real and pure place of respect and affection. I wish we could make what we planned for a second season, but you know what they say, men plan, God laughs.” He added that the team “had so much cool sh*t planned” for Cowboy Bebop‘s second season.
