ART: FIRST STILLS OF 'AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER' HAVE BEEN LEAKED & MORE

Avatar 2 The Way of Water Movie Film Stills

Avatar 2, also known as Avatar: The Way of Water, is set to premiere later this year. While fans patiently wait a little longer, the first stills of the film have surfaced on the internet.

Reportedly taken from the unreleased official trailer, which was presented during a private screening at 2022 CinemaCon, the images showcase the indigenous Na’vi people getting ready for battle while sitting on submerged sea beasts. Elsewhere, two photos feature close-up shots of Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), while another still is of a whale-like creature underwater.

“Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids),” the official synopsis describes. “The trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”

Avatar: The Way of Water will hit theaters on December 14. Stay tuned while we wait for the trailer to release sometime this week.

james jean fragments nft collection outland artJames Jean is no stranger to creating traditional art compositions that elicit mystical imaginations from onlookers. The Taiwanese-American artist has recently been pushing the fantastical boundaries of his practice by immersing in the world of crypto art. Following his standalone Slingshot and Woodcutter Awakening NFTs, Jean has now unveiled his first collection of PFP (profile picture) NFTs entitled FRAGMENTS.

Made in collaboration with digital platform Outland with technical support by Zora, the series is comprised of 7,000 digital stained glass artworks. The crypto collectibles were inspired by a physical sculpture that the artist is working on as part of an architectural pavilion called Pagoda. Each special edition of FRAGMENTS exists on the Ethereum blockchain.

Each subject that you can see in one intricate edition was hand-crafted by the artist. “What Jean describes as ‘mythic beings,’ each character bears a unique persona on a pentagonal frame in his signature psychedelic color palette,” said Outland on their website. “Fragments features visual elements that have appeared within Jean’s works throughout his career, including his interest in the painting traditions of European, Chinese, and Japanese old Masters, and so offers a retrospective exploration of his artistic practice.”

Currently, the collection is open for Elemental Holders which allows interested buyers to purchase two FRAGMENTS editions for each qualifying NFT releases held. A public sale will commence on April 28 at 8 p.m. ET with a minting price of one ETH and just a max mint of one edition. A total of 3,930 editions out of 7,000 are already minted.

He first began experiencing commercial success upon collaborating with How2work for the release of Chinese picture books and collectible figures between the years of 2011 and 2013. Since then, Lung has extended his practice to large-scale paintings that have toured around the globe.

After receiving a great response from his 2020 exhibition, “THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE” at Hidari Zingaro in Nakano Broadway, Lung will return to Japan in his first major solo exhibition, dubbed “-+” at Kaikai Kiki Gallery. Lung will present 25 new paintings, including 3-meter-high canvases on view.

The new suite of work centers around the enigmatic characters Labubu and Zimomo, which were created by the artist to reflect his energetic and dynamic brushstrokes. “When I discover something new, I quickly grab my pencil and sketch everything on paper. This gives me enormous satisfaction,” said the artist in a statement.
