ADIDAS: HYPEBAE Interprets Alexander Wang x adidas Original’s Season 2 in Exclusive “Comfort/Discomfort” Editorial

  • This past weekend, Alexander Wang‘s highly anticipated first drop of the adidas Originals Season 2 collection launched in-store and online at global retailers. Inspired by the bike messengers of NYC, the range is themed around the city’s famed couriers, manifesting in the form of skintight onesies and bicycle shorts. Along with Wang’s hallmark black palette, the garments are also rendered in a striking neon yellow shade that brings to life the vintage-inspired graphics emblazoned across several pieces. Of course, the standout item that has relentlessly raised eyebrows in the offering’s campaign is the ski mask. With Three Stripes slashed across the front of the headpieces, these additions are nothing short of head-turning.
Offering our own interpretation of the latest program, we’ve tapped photographer Kara Chung for an exclusive editorial entitled “Comfort/Discomfort.” Creating custom structures from both foam pieces and chicken coop wire alike, stylist Rebecca Lam explores the dichotomy of ease and tension, repose and strain. At the center of the narrative is a play on raw materials, brought about by the literal contrast of neon pieces in a dull setting.
