John Elliott NikeLab Air Monarch Vandal 2018 fall winter collaborations nikelab sneakers shoes footwear instagram
John Elliott’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection saw the designer debuting a mature, contemporary iteration of the casual menswear he’s known for, along with a new line of womenswear. Perhaps most notably, however, Elliott also introduced a spate of brand new NikeLab collaborations, including some exceptionally clean dad shoes.
Elliott’s preferred sneaker silhouette returned, with a set of new Nike Vandals taking cues from the textiles utilized for the runway collection. One pair of dark nubuck vandals offered a clean white midsole and corduroy Swoosh, keeping in line with the season’s earthy layers, while a white pair offered the same textile executed in a cool hue. However, the star of the show was the reworked Air Monarchs, offered in several iterations. Sleek white uppers boasted revised detailing, with smaller Swooshes appearing on the medial side and the midsole’s “AIR” branding removed wholesale. A streamlined midsole further elevated the sneaker, but the fat laces remained.
Take a closer look at the updated silhouettes on Elliott’s Instagram and let us know your thoughts. Is this the logical peak of the chunky shoe trend? Meanwhile, Scandinavian footwear and denim label Eytys recently teased a new canvas version of its beefy Angel sneaker.
