Phillips will soon launch an exhibition of noteworthy Banksy artworks for the first time in Taiwan. Entitled “Banksy: The Authentic Rebel,” the presentation will feature the elusive British artist’s signature pieces portraying ubiquitous motifs ladened with satire, whimsy and anti-establishment sentiments. A total of 25 artworks will be displayed, highlights include the artist’s Chequebook Vandalism (2003) spray-painted stencil on card, CCCP (2003) multicolored screen print on woven paper and the iconic Girl with Balloon (2004) screenprint in black and red on wove paper.
The general manager of Phillips Taiwan, Cindy Yen, expressed:
“Banksy is one of the most famous street artists in the world, and we are delighted to present his works to art lovers in Taiwan. Following the booming art scene in Taiwan since last year which captures the world’s attention, we would like to present this rare exhibition to Taiwanese collectors. Taiwan’s art collecting culture has always been extensive, spreading across modern to contemporary Asian and international art.”
“Banksy: The Authentic Rebel” will be open to the public from March 16-24 at Bellavista B1 Gallery in Taipei. Head to Phillips Taiwan’s website to learn more.
