ART: FUTURA

futura futuradosmil futurarchives futuralaboratories artworks resellers collectibles paintings editions
Futura is having a fruitful year. From launching limited edition art objects such as his ‘FL-001’ sculptures to spearheading collaborations with the likes of A-COLD-WALL, Off-White™, and recently the New York Mets, the legendary graffiti artist continues to his widen his reach in both the art and fashion worlds. The demand for his collectibles is also seemingly unmatched by any other artists of his caliber with his exclusive works fetching aftermarket prices upwards of $5,000 USD on reseller platforms such as StockX.
In an attempt to rule out the resellers and maintain the fandom of appreciative buyers, Futura took to his @FuturaLaboratories Instagram account to voice his frustration over his products being sold at “second or third-hand markets” while expressing his support “to the real fans.” He also announced the closure of his FUTURARCHIVES online shop — an e-commerce site that would have purveyed his limited edition works.
In an effort to get our products into the proper hands (who will actually appreciate it) we will reach out to those individuals. To the real fans and supporters, you know who you are (and we know who you are). You will be hearing from us at FL. We hope this will reduce our products being sold at second or third-hand markets and reselling them at exorbitant prices. We hate that our fans are fighting against at machine (sic). We want this to be a unique and fair experience for every person.
Because of that:
FUTURARCHIVES is now indefinitely closed.
Thank you for your participation and your understanding.
Real humans will prevail (always)

E806T Futura Fleeting FL-001 Pointman Ice Reseale FUTURARCHIVES Shop Shutdown Close Ice Reseller
Shortly after the FUTURARCHIVES online shop, art collective E806T created an ice sculpture of Futura‘s iconic Pointman to support the artist’s fight again resellers. The famed American artist made waves recently when he shut down his webstore in frustration over his products being sold at “second or third-hand markets” while expressing his support “to the real fans.”
The temporary art piece fittingly dubbed Fleeting FL-001 Pointman aligns itself with Futura’s recent resale PSA by spotlighting the permanence/impermanence tied to objects when simply valued in terms of “hype.” Referencing the fluctuating resale markets tied to streetwear, E806T looked to prove objects are only valuable until they fade away, or basically out of relevancy/existence when they are falsely traded at exorbitant prices.
Virgil Abloh Futura Laboratories, MCA Chicago exclusive figures of speech tee shirt off white collaboration limited release date info church state
Virgl Abloh‘s MCA Chicago-exclusive merch rollout continues, with the creative rejoining with Futura for a special T-shirt in honor of the ongoing “FIGURES OF SPEECH” exhibition. Available only at the “Church & State” pop-up store, the duo have crafted a tee that blends a variety of their own distinctive design elements.
After teaming up for Off-White™’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Abloh and Futura’s latest partnership sees the duo revising an Off-White shirt™ utilizing imagery from the graffiti legend’s recently-relaunched Futura Laboratories clothing line. The brand’s “FL” logo appears at the chest, with paint splashes and orange blocks interrupting the text beneath. Futura’s signature “Atom” symbol adds another layer to the graphics, while Off-White™’s label appears at the neck and its preferred hangtag graces the bottom hem.
Though some Abloh goods are still available on the MCA’s web store, the “Church & State” shirt is only available in the museum itself.
