Detroit-based retailer Shinola has reworked one of its most classic timepiece models — the Runwell — and created a new, more casual entry-level collection called Detrola.
Currently available in seven colorways, the Detrola range offers options from playful and vibrant to classic and minimalist. Largely resembling the Runwell line, the new models swap out the original stainless steel cases for a modern high-grade resin case constructed from TR90, which Shinola says is “lightweight, durable, and resilient.” The revamped casing then holds a stainless steel core with a quartz Argonite 705 movement which Shinola assembles in Detroit using Swiss-made parts. Protecting the watch is a K1 crystal — the hardest and most durable mineral crystal — providing excellent scratch resistance. Completing the timepiece is a lightweight silicone strap with quick release, allowing you to swap between straps whenever you wish.
Shinola’s latest Detrola watch collection is now available over at the brand’s online store and select retailers, coming with a price tag of $395 USD. Head over to cop yours now.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Swiss watch brand Zenith has teamed up with HODINKEE to release the El Primero Revival G381. The new model is a familiar face to Zenith collectors, as it is a direct revival of the brand’s cult favorite automatic high-speed chronograph, the G381.
Originally arriving along with some of the earliest models in Zenith’s El Primero range back in 1969, the G381 set itself apart from relatives like the A386 with its luxurious gold detailing and contrasting “panda” face. Fewer than 700 G381s were produced when the watch first launched in 1969 and it’ll now see an even more limited release, with only 50 pieces available worldwide.

The El Primero Revival G381 maintains the original G381’s key design facets, including 18k yellow gold accents and smaller crown. Housing a Zenith caliber 400 El Primero chronograph movement, the revival edition updates the beloved classic with contemporary construction.
Due to the exclusiveness and desirability of the watch, it will also see a higher price point, landing at $19,200 USD. Learn more about the historic model and purchase it over on HODINKEE’s online shop.
HODINKEE and Zenith aren’t the only ones reviving classic silhouettes this week; Seiko recently released an updated version of its SNJ028 diver’s watch.
Seiko SNJ028 Recreates 1982 Hybrid Divers Watch black rose gold technology bezel 47.88mm new watch hybrid diver 150m analog digital
Japanese watch brand Seiko has once again fused watch lover’s galore creating a modern version of the popular 1982 Hybrid Diver’s watch called the SNJ028.
The 1982 Hybrid Diver was a game changing watch because it was the world’s first hybrid diver, featuring both analog and digital elements. Here, many of the original features were brought over into the modern interpretation: chronograph with a digital readout, as well as time, date, and alarm functionality through the digital screen.
The most important difference between the original and this new iteration is the engine powering them. The new watch has a solar-powered design that can run for a total of six months on a full charge. With three crowns, analog and digital displays and a casing that measures 47.8mm this new hybrid bodes well for wrist presence.
Along with power reserve display function, the dual time capability allows for a local time indiction mode. The new series is water resistant up to 200 meters and ISO certified for scuba diving. With a lightweight matte black case, rose gold accents, silicon strap and a one way rotating elapsed time bezel, there’s an emphasis on a cool yet utilitarian style for today’s consumer.
The watch is available on the Seiko website for $550 USD.
