For the latest addition to the Prospex Collection, Japanese watchmaker Seiko takes a contemporary approach to its diving heritage for the Street Series. Two new light powered watches, the SNE 541 and the SNE 543, pull inspiration from trends in fashion with dark earth tones along with a blend of street style and technological advancements.
Seiko’s longstanding commitment to innovative technology has led to an impressive collection of timepieces that cater to sports and adventure lovers. The watchmaker changed the world’s standard for diver watches in 1975 when it created the first diver model with a titanium case, which touted a two-layer case construction and new accordion-style strap for easy application. Seiko keeps its legacy alive with a duo of models that take design cues from the iconic timepiece and are updated with technological features such as light-powered energy and a ten month power reserve. Though both models offer sports-centric functionality, they also carry a strong lifestyle aesthetic for everyday, style-forward wear.
The first of the Prospex Street Series, the SNE 541, is a thin 46.7mm solar diver with a streamlined design, notable for its lightweight matte black case, black reinforced silicone strap, a silver one-way rotating elapsed timing bezel and flourescent LumiBrite hands. The second watch of the series, the SNE 543, features another cutting-edge design combined with tech excellence. The timepiece shows off a patterned black dial with a digital date calendar along with a similar casing and bezel as its counterpart. Both editions meet the capabilities necessary for professional ISO diving standards wrapped in a modern design that appeals to a new generation of watch wearers.
The SNE 541 SNE 543 are available for purchase now at Seiko’s website and are priced at $400 USD and $450 USD, respectively.

mastermind JAPAN joins Seiko for a limited blacked-out version of the Astron watch. Originally introduced in 2012, the Astron watch packs a lot of Seiko’s tech which advances the function and accuracy of the timepiece.
Featuring functions like Solar GPS satellite radio wave correction, a perpetual calendar, 39 time zones, a power saving mode, a power reserve display, and a “time transfer function,” you’re left with a highly-accurate watch that can last 2 years on a single charge, and will not require a calendar adjustment until the year 2100. You can also jump between time zones with the push of a button, both the home time and local time can be easily read via the sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position.
Solidifying this as a mastermind JAPAN collab is the blacked-out coating, SKULL-branded silicone and stainless strap, co-branded caseback, and further skill motifs on the dial and crown. A nice hidden detail can be found at the UTC-9 location where Tokyo’s city code (TYO) has been replaced with “JPN” as a nod towards mastermind JAPAN. Limited to 150 pieces, the mastermind JAPAN x Seiko Astron watch goes on sale on October 26 for a price of ¥670,000 JPY (approximately $6,180 USD). For more info on the specs of the watch, head over the Seiko’s dedicated MMJ site.

Zoo York has tapped its founders, Rodney Smith, Eli Morgan Gesner and Adam Schatz, as creative directors to help reinvigorate the brand, and with that they’ve launched the aptly-named “Founders Collection.” The second installment of this line pays tribute to the late great Harold Hunter, an original member of the Zoo York skate team.
The capsule consists of seven items, with most pieces featuring archival images of Hunter, along with memorable quotes from the legendary skater. Key items include a skate deck featuring Hunter’s image along with the Zoo York and HHF logos, as well as a short-sleeve and long-sleeve T-shirts both emblazoned with Hunter’s image and the quote “The little information I have, that’s what I know.”
Additional items include a hoodie, beanie and waist bag with Hunter’s portrait, as well as a re-issue of a Zoo York crewneck fleece sweatshirt from 1995 with Hunter’s name showcased on the back. All items are modeled by AJ Rodriguez, a four-time recipient of scholarships for The Harold Hunter Foundation summer camp programs and a newly minted member of the Zoo York skate team.
The new Zoo York x Founders: 002 capsule will be available only through Zoo York’s Instagram page and ZooYork.com, starting on October 22, 2019. To honor Hunter’s memory, a portion of the proceeds from the collection will be donated to The Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF).
