NEW WATCHES: Patek Philippe 5370P Split-Seconds Chronograph / Bamford Watch Department x DRx Romanelli Create Rolex Submariner Celebrating King Features' Phantom / Louis Vuitton Escale Worldtime Minute Repeater / Dassault x Bell & Ross BR03 "Rafale"
The Patek Philippe 5370P exudes “Pure Patek,” with its timelessly classic silhouette, the watch showcases the best the watchmaker has to offer, bringing back heritage details in a watch that has fans raving. The caliber is made in-house, with a traditional enamel dial fitted with a retro case and crown. This watch is the first two-button pure split-second since 1971, and features a 41 mm platinum case. The split-seconds chronograph features a concave bezel complementing the soft camber of the sapphire crystal. The pure-black enamel dial features Breguet numerals, made with the highest quality production, and will not fade over time. Turn the watch around and you can see the CHR 29-535 PS in action, a high-precision technical chronograph in its purest form. The 5370P will retail for $249,200 USD, but will be released in very limited quantities due to its special make, with only one to three pieces available in all of 2015 for the entire U.S. market, with first delivery sometime in July. Bamford Watch Department and DRx (Drx Romanelli) present the latest collaboration, a watch that celebrates King Features Syndicate’s Phantom. Offered in the Submariner Non-Date model, it combines the classic timepiece with pop culture. Made from BWD’s Military Grade Titanium Coating means the watch is durable, with detailing present on the underside of the timepiece which presents an engraved DRx logo and unique limited-edition number. Each watch also comes with a numbered, custom comic strip poster and steel warranty cards, along with handcrafted rings courtesy of The Great Frog. Released exclusively as a limited edition run, they are available from the Bamford Watch Department with prices available on request. Read more about it here.
Louis Vuitton‘s move into high-end watchmaking sees the introduction of the Escale Worldtime Minute Repeater, a colorful timepiece boasting timezone functions. The hand-painted dial elements make a colorful statement, featuring no less than 38 different colors. The piece can display multiple timezones at once, with each painted pictograph representing a different timezone along with 24 different city abbreviations. The face of the watch features three discs, all of which can be adjusted by a single crown. The outermost discs include 24 cities, and by simply aligning the “V” on the crown, you can set your home time as well as locking in the timezone. By moving your destination city to the top of the dial, you can adjust the timezone with a push of the crown, while the minute repeater will sound the time in your home city. The unique three-disc design allows you to easily read the time in any city, with the hour disc and world timer moving in sync. The complex design is highlighted by relative lightness, clocking in at 44mm in diameter and only 11.7mm in thickness. Check out more of the timepiece above.
Bell & Ross took to Baselworld 2015 to reveal, among other timepieces, its latest collaboration with French aircraft manufacturer Dassault. Dubbed the “Rafale” and flanked here by two new editions of the BR03 with ceramic cases and updated dials, the collaborative take on the BR03 is a nod to Dassault’s twin-engine, canard delta-wing fighter of the same name and is a follow-up of sorts to 2013′s Falcon — which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Dassault’s Falcon business jet. Sporting a 42mm matte black ceramic case and matte grey dial, the Rafale sees Superluminova-filled numerals, indices, and hour and minute hands, and boasts an automatic caliber BR-CAL.301 movement with a small seconds window at 3 o’clock and a 30-minute timer at the 9 o’clock position. Water-resistant up to 100 meters, the design comes complete with an anti-reflective-coated sapphire crystal, black rubber strap and black PVD-coated steel buckle.
The “Rafale” edition of the BR03 will soon be available from Bell & Ross stockists and limited to just 500 pieces.
