FRESH KICKS: adidas Originals Superstar 80s "Metallic Gold"/ adidas Originals Stan Smith "Collegiate Navy"/ Nike Free Hypervenom 2 "Gym Red"/ Daily Paper x Filling Pieces Low Top Velcro White
The iconic adidas Originals Superstar silhouette gets dripped in gold with the new “Metallic Gold” colorway. Not for the faint of heart, but this shoe takes a page from the recent Va$htie x PUMA collaboration which also saw a fully metallic construction. Comprised of a synthetic combination, the gold is offset with white accents in the heel tab’s Trefoil logo, as well as its laces and outsole. Head over to Afew Store to cop your pair soon, for approximately $135 USD.
adidas has given the classic Stan Smith a suede makeover with the debut of its new “Collegiate Navy” edition of the tennis low top. Highlighted by navy blue suede construction and a matching rubber sole unit, the design comes capped off with white lining and golden suede heel panels as embroidered “Stan Smith” script replaces the usual text branding and Trefoils. Stan fans can pick these up now via Switzerland’s Titolo.
If your favorite squad rocks a red kit, then you’re in luck as Nike Sportswear is set to drop a “Gym Red” take on the Free Hypervenom 2 next month. Sporting an official colorway of Gym Red/Light Crimson-Ivory, this Free-cushioned off-pitch take on the Swoosh’s latest Hypervenom football boot comes with an all-red upper of neoprene, mesh and synthetics as a white Free 3.0 sole unit provides the cushioning below. Perfect for everyone from Red Devils and Gunners fans to the Anfield faithful and more, the “Gym Red” edition of the Free Hypervenom 2 is due out September 20 from NSW retailers like asphaltgold.
Amsterdam-based Daily Paper and Filling Pieces are teaming up again, this time on a new silhouette reflecting the two labels’ shared friendship and history. A celebration of friendship and innovation, the Low Top Velcro White silhouette features the finest white tanned Italian top grain leather, with three Velcro straps to replace the usual laces. Set atop an Italian-made vulcanized rubber ripple sole, the shoe is clean and crisp with a laser-branded logo upper strap and insole. Produced in very limited numbers, the shoe will be released August 29 with an exclusive event at German retailer BSTN in Munich. Among the list of retailers are La Ferramenta Bologna, Kith NYC, Storm Copenhagen, Baskets Amsterdam, Monkey Time Tokyo, Big in Japan Store, Pathers Brussels, Renaissance Antwerp and online at FillingPieces.com.
