For its Fall 2019 campaign, Balenciaga is taking us out of this world. The Demna Gvasalia-led label has tapped artist Jean-Pierre Attal for his first-ever fashion campaign, applying his signature “sociological investigation-like” series to the brand’s latest campaign.

The Balenciaga collection is re-imagined and superimposed over cosmic deserts in both Morocco and Lanzarote in the recognizable “Paysages Ethongraphiques” style the artist is known for. “Uprooted from a modern maze of architecture, crowds become wandering individuals, each uniquely experiencing a vast, beautiful world,” Balenciaga describes the surreal campaign.

Highlighting the vibrant and eye-catching pieces from the collection, the images give us a look at the label’s inventive silhouettes resulting in a contemporary dichotomy between the tonal landscapes and the colorful pieces. As the label put it, “In this updated world, definitions of work and play are blurred.”
