Single Fare 4 MetroCard Art Exhibition Highline Stages 2017 September 16 17 Saturday Sunday
Artists Michael Kagan and Jean-Pierre Roy have recently partnered with The New York Academy of Art to produce a monumental exhibition dedicated to artworks created out of NYC MetroCards. Titled “Single Fare 4,” the showcase marks the fourth installment of Kagan and Roy’s ongoing project that asks artists to reimagine the quintessential Big Apple object to their hearts’ content. A diverse batch of works will be on display at the upcoming function located at Highline Stages, spanning illustrations, installations, sculptures, as well as immersive experiences.
“Single Fare 4″ will run from September 16-17. Head over to the exhibition’s official website to learn more.

Banksy Art Jean-Michel Basquiat Exhibit
Banksy Art Jean-Michel Basquiat Exhibit
With the opening of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s first UK-based large-scale exhibition just a few days away, several pieces from fellow artist Banksy appeared at the venue to honor the legendary creator. Banksy later took to Instagram to point out the irony of showing at the Barbican — a site known to keep its walls free of graffiti — playing host to an acclaimed artist of that same genre.
Acting as an unofficial collaboration of sorts, the main piece is an ode to Basquiat’s “Boy and Dog in a Johnnypump” piece — reimagined with a revolving theme found in Banksy’s creations — law-enforced stop and search procedures. The featured works blend stencil spray paint, freehand spray paint and oil pastel. Flip through the gallery above and have a look for yourself.
