DOPE WATCHES:

IWC Schaffhausen First Ceratanium Watch Case Launch Release - 3945421
With 50 years of the IWC Aquatimer now in the books, Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen is celebrating the milestone with the release of a brand new case material. Going with the name “Ceratanium,” the new material is a combination of titanium and ceramic and is finished off with a matte black paint. The combination of titanium and ceramic makes for a lightweight feel all while being scratch-resistant and supremely durable. While it sounds like an unlikely combination of materials, IWC CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr says the brand isn’t afraid to innovate and try new things: “Since we already had a pioneering role in the use of titanium and ceramic in the 1980s, we are now once again highlighting our expertise with materials by employing Ceratanium.”
Only 50 units of the special edition Aquatimer will be made available with a price point of 50,000 CHF (about $52,000 USD).
G-SHOCK SANKUANZ Tundra GA-700 Watch Chinese Streetwear Shangguan Zhe - 3945276
Having recently worked with artist Michael Lau on a new MR-G model, G-SHOCK has now revealed a collaboration with emerging Chinese streetwear brand SANKUANZ. The collaborative timepiece first made an appearance at the brand’s Paris Fashion Week Men’s show, but now the watch has been officially unveiled. The “TUNDRA” GA-700SKZ- 7 comes in an arctic camouflage print, with the predominantly white watch featuring touches of pink and green on the bezel and bands. The G-SHOCK x SANKUANZ release is the first time that G-SHOCK’s analogue-digital GA-700 model has been used in a collaboration.
To mark the release, SANKUANZ designer Shangguan Zhe created a trailer for the timepiece, which is based around the theme of “toughness and creativity” and shows the watch in the tundra setting which has influenced the design. The SUNKUANZ x G-SHOCK GA-700SKZ-7 is available now, with retail set at ¥21,000 JPY (approx. $200 USD). Head to the G-SHOCK site for more information.
dezeen Braun BN0031 Watch Blue Dial Mesh Dieter Rams Limited Edition - 3943954.
Braun has done well to keep the minimalistic design ethos of Dieter Rams alive in recent years, dropping pieces like the timeless BN0031 as a modern day homage to the German industrial designer’s heyday. Now dezeen is putting its own spin on the design as the architecture and design magazine has crafted a limited edition take on the timepiece. Keeping the clean lines, mesh band, and iconic yellow seconds hand of the original intact, the design comes coated in a deep shade of blue while the case back sports engraved co-branding and is individually numbered up to 250.
A beautifully exclusive nod to tried-and-true Braun design, the special BN0031 is available to pre-order online now for $220 USD.
