NEW BLVCK & WHITE STREETWEAR:
Seiko has returned to its Prospex Dive collection to release a limited set of diving chronographs with “The Black Series.” For over 42 years, the Japanese timepiece label has found itself on the cutting-edge by pioneering several watches whose design and functionality have become industry standards in diving.
With a close attention to detail, the label has created three pieces to handle the rigors of diving. With a performance ability of up to 200-m (approximately 656-ft), the watches sport a blacked out body whose coating reflects the darkness of the sea. The SSC673, SRPC49 and SNE493 provide optimal visibility with a bright orange minute-hand, bold typeface, calendar lens, and the unique LumiBrite feature. Never worry about the battery, as the pieces come powered via Seiko’s solar driving system.
Expect a rollout in 2018. In other fashion news, read how Apple gets beat out by an Italian label named “Steve Jobs”.
In collaboration with the NBA, The Elder Statesman — created by designer Greg Chait — has issued a selection of cashmere and silk-blend-knitted jerseys inspired by the professional sport.
Known for its deft in crafting fine cashmere goods, the label has extended this requisite to bring silk and an intarsia-knitting to its own jersey silhouettes. Even with minimally designed aesthetics, each piece embodies the essence of a couple of basketball’s fan-favorite teams.
Starting at $925 USD, the items can be bought exclusively through MR PORTER‘s webstore. To further your fashion fix, view a teaser of our 20th issue of HYPEBEAST magazine featuring Virgil Abloh as the leading cover story.
New Era Japan has joined forces with fellow Japanese imprint WHIZ LIMITED to create a new backpack design that is equally adept at handling rugged outdoor terrain as is extended city-to-city jet-set travel. Part of WHIZ LIMITED’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection, the carryall item is fashioned from durable ballistic nylon, which swarms the entire core and upper region, while premium grade suede lines the base area. Metal snap buckles and a personalized signature plate round out the collaborative design.
Set to a price of approximately $172 USD, the backpack will make its way to designated New Era stores throughout Japan starting January 2. In case you missed it, PORTER released a uniquely-dyed “Fade” capsule collection.
Daidō Moriyama, a renowned Japanese photographer, has teamed up with the streetwear imprint WACKO MARIA to deliver a capsule coinciding with the anniversaries of a select few of his photograph collections – Nippon Theater Photo Book, Sayyo Picture and Yashi.
Known for his candidly gritty, black-and-white and often unfocused work, Moriyama found prominence as an influential provocateur and contributor to the emergence of street-photography in ’60s-’70s, inspiring the likes of Keizo Kitajima. The clothing explores Daidō’s motifs by collaging and emblazoning his images, from the aforementioned collections, on black or white garments ranging from T-shirts and Hawaiian shirts to sweatshirts and coach jackets.
Starting at ¥11,000 JPY (approximately $97 USD), the pieces will be available January 1 in-store via Paradise Tokyo and WACKO MARIA as well as online through the label’s website. For more fashion news, check out the release of Supreme’s sled.
Vans and JOURNAL STANDARD reunite for a collaborative capsule collection with a good intention; proceeds from the sales of the exclusive collection will benefit the Shibuya Ward Association for Persons with Disabilities.
Each item sports a design hearkening back to Vans’ skateboarding heritage, boasting an array of Katakana and symbols related to the city juxtaposed with recognizable logos. The famous Shibuya crossing appears on a pair of standout slip-ons, which also feature the city’s name in Kanji on the insole. Meanwhile, long- and short-sleeved T-shirts and a coach jacket offer a variety of retro Vans motifs alongside “SHIBUYA CITY” branding along the sleeves and on the chest and back of each item. The collection features the circular Shibuya coat of arms design, which is intended to promote the cause of funding sports activities for persons with disabilities.
The range is available on JOURNAL STANDARD’s webstore. In other Vans Japan news, BILLY’S debuted an original “Crazy Check” Old Skool design.
HIP HOP FASHION: Master P & No Limit Forever Records Set to Drop Commemorative Capsule
Master P and his No Limit Forever Records label pay homage to their glory years with the upcoming release of a themed capsule collection. As showcased in the accompanying lookbook, which Master P helps front, T-shirts, hoodies and long-sleeve crewnecks throwback to such projects as Master P’s The Last Don, Snoop Dogg’s Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told and others.
The collection will be available through a 72-hour online pop-up starting December 29 with select pieces being sent to various PacSun locations. Speaking of hip-hop merch, H&M launched Young Thug’s Beautiful Thugger Girls collection.
DOPE TRUCKS:
Having received wide acclaim for creating a slew of bespoke models such as its Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes G Wagon, and numerous Range Rovers, Kahn Design has returned with a revamped iteration of its Land Rover Defender-based 6×6 Flying Hunstman.
While details of the project are still being released to the public, Kahn is hoping to deliver its latest 6×6 truck creation, that boasts a retractable soft-top, to Defender enthusiasts very soon. The teaser image depicts everything we’ve come to expect from one of the UK’s most avant-garde designers with the uncompromising 6×6 chassis dipped in tonal dark grey boasting contrasting orange accents on the rims, logo and soft-top. Stay tuned for further details that are due to surface in the coming weeks.
Keeping with the automotive world, Chris Kippenberger showcases his Porsche 911 for AUTOBAHN.
Having revealed renders of a Tesla Pickup earlier this year, Elon Musk has now announced that the truck could be entering development in the coming years. Responding to a question on Twitter, Musk announced that he is “dying to build it” and has “had the core/design elements in my mind for almost 5 years.” Musk also promised that Tesla will work on the truck “right after Model Y,” the crossover car rumored to have a 2019 release.
In another Twitter post, Musk teased more details about the truck. He described it as “similar total size” to Ford’s F-150 model, although that may change: “Maybe slightly bigger to account for a really gamechanging (I think) feature I’d like to add.”
Firm details about the truck — and when it will enter development — are still scarce, so keep checking back for more news. In other automotive news, Aston Martin has been forced to recall more than 5,000 vehicles.
Hennessey Performance Engineering unveils its newest take on the Ford SVT Raptor with its souped-up VelociRaptor 6×6. Spawning its epithet from the dinosaur of the same name, the original Raptor, released late 2009, was Ford‘s speed-driven off-roading answer to the F-150. Mass appeal was found in the truck, eventually leading to Hennessey elaborating on this version with its high-performance Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV.
On six wheels, the Hennesey custom is a monstrous creation that can reach 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 can deliver 602 horsepower and 622 pound-feet of torque, a dwarfing metric to Ford’s premium stock Raptor. With its third additional axle, upgraded suspension and off-road tires, the vehicle, as stated by HPE owner John Hennessey, is “pure aggression on wheels.”
Only 50 of these off-roading beasts will be made, and you can get yours for the price of $349,000 USD. For more car news, Ford plans to sell cars in cat-shaped vending machines.
In a recent New York auction, a 1990 Lamborghini LM/American sold for $467,000 USD. Dubbed the “Rambo Lambo,” the LM002 model is one of 301 produced between 1986 and 1993 — of these, only 48 were built to the actual LM/A specifications making it a true collectible. The “Rambo Lambo” is the first SUV ever created by Lamborghini based on an abandoned U.S. military prototype named Cheetah. At the time of conception, the MSRP was nearly $300,000 USD — that’s twice the price of the upcoming 2019 URUS, another Lambo SUV.
The exotic car boasts a 76-gallon fuel tank, Pirelli Scorpion tires, a very rare rear cargo box, tonneau cover, LM/A floor mats, and chrome bumpers. The 4×4 has received an extensive five-year restoration effort valued at $325,000 USD. This included the application of a new exhaust and a modernized interior fitted with an Alpine stereo head unit and integrated Bluetooth. Despite being over 27 years old, the odometer reads only 19,153 miles. Moreover, the owner received a photographic documentation of the restoration effort and two OEM ECU computer units.
RM Sotheby‘s notes the LM002 is popular with Middle Eastern royalty and celebrities. It was produced “thanks to a new generation of millionaires and billionaires seeking the ever-greater toy.” If you want to make a comparison watch this video of the new Lamborghini Urus in action.
NEW BIKES:
This BMW R100 R Café Racer has received the custom treatment, giving it a sleek copper finish. This one-of-one was created by Vincent Degano, who developed an interest in BMW motorbikes because his father rode them as part of his job in the French police. Degano usually only works on Scrambler models but this time wanted to work on a Café Racer, choosing the R100 R as his vehicle of choice.
Degano first etched clean and painted the engine and wheels black. He then sandblasted the rest of the bike before using a custom copper powder coat and faux copper paint to cover the bodywork. In addition to this he added a new axel and 2010 speed triple forks.
Take a look through the gallery to see the vehicle for yourself. Elsewhere, back in November BMW, introduced its latest car – the i8 Roadster.
Argentinian motorcycle customizers Vida Bandida unveiled a new take on the Honda Tornado. Completely overhauled, the slim trail cycle has been reshaped into a heavy-duty cafe racer.
The original frame was ripped apart and given a new subframe, which allowed for new cafe racer-style traits, like dropped horizontal handlebars and a twin-shock mount system outfitted with retro Harley Davidson pieces, including a fuel tank from the ’60s and ‘883 Sportster’ shocks and headlights. Under the fuel and swingarm sits the battery, snug-in custom casing, aiding the bike’s center of gravity. Behind the “Brat”-inspired seat is a custom brake light, a necessity because the original hardware could fit the new model.

This past summer, Bandit9 rejuvenated the classic Harley-Davidson Street 750, producing a sleek, shadowy bike known as the Dark Side. Inspired by aircraft, Bandit9 used a unibody to fuse several connecting parts into one aerodynamic piece of equipment. Now, the high-end motorcycle manufacturer is back with another eye-catching custom creation.
For Bandit9’s latest creation, the company delivers a futuristic bespoke motorcycle known as the Odyssey. Propelled by a 1400cc V-Twin or dual-drive electric engine, the Odyssey features high-density foam in the saddle, which lets consumers mold that area to their specific body type and aids weight distribution. To control the type of ride the owner will experience, the Odyssey utilizes Avionics and a see-through LED display.
