Iconic photographer and pro skater Dennis McGrath has teamed up with Carhartt WIP to launch an upcoming photo exhibit in Tokyo, Japan. Titled “What’s Up with the Hoods Out in Astoria?,” the showcase will display McGrath’s monochromatic visuals of everyday life in New York City back in the 1990s. More precisely, images of local skaters, graffiti-ridden backdrops, and other candid sequences captured from his perspective are highlighted in the show. Collectively, exclusive merchandise will be available for purchase at the event.
“What’s Up with the Hoods Out in Astoria?” is set to launch this December 15 up until the 17th at WAG Gallery.

Earlier last month, we took a look at BAPE’s Tiger Shark-rich fall/winter collection, which saw the statement print land on a wide array of pullovers, jackets, trousers, and accessories. And now, the streetwear mainstay’s Hong Kong outpost recently took to Instagram — posting a new activewear-inspired item bearing the signature print motif.
A reflector hoodie jacket, available in both, core white and grey iterations, has recently surfaced — featuring the famed caricature print on the rear side of the hood. Ideal for late night runs, the new design is now up for grabs at BAPE’s Hong Kong location.
The latest artwork for Deadpool 2 is out now and it’s as irreverent as you’d expect. Unveiled on Ryan Reynold’s Instagram, complete with the caption “Some might call this creation a masterpiece, but to me it’s just well hung art to be shared with the world,” the latest promo for the new Marvel film shows Josh Brolin’s Cable alongside Pool.
The picture is clearly a play on Michelangelo’s iconic The Creation of Adam painting, which is part of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. Previously, another promo poster for the film was also inspired by a classic artwork, with Norman Rockwell’s Freedom From Want receiving the parody treatment. Deadpool 2 is still a long way away, with a release date confirmed for June 1, 2018.
In the meantime, you can watch Ryan Reynolds parody Bob Ross in a video teaser for the film.
Rare vinyl copies of Prince‘s unreleased Black Album have surfaced posthumously. Deemed “evil,” the enigmatic Prince ordered Warner Bros. to eliminate all 500,000 copies. Eventually in ‘94 the record was able to be sold for a limited release with no vinyls allowed to be pressed. Only three copies of the vinyl have existed thus making it, as Jeff Gold, ex-Warner Bros Vice President, says, “…easily one of the rarest records in the world.”
Serendipitously, an associate of Jeff found five copies hidden away while looking for records to give to his daughter. Once he was able to contact Jeff, they both realized that they were sitting on authentic copies of the infamous album. Jeff was sent three copies to sell for $15,000 USD, while his friend will keep one and auction the other next year.
If you’re in the market for some recherché Prince or want more information, head over to Jeff’s website.
