Earlier this year, Atari announced its return to gaming with its “Ataribox,” and left it at that. Devoid of pricing, release or game details, fans eagerly awaited more news regarding the upcoming device. Finally, the company has announced that it will begin accepting pre-orders for the system later this week.
The Ataribox follows in the footsteps of Nintendo‘s recent retro revival, which include an SNES-style 3DS and the red-hot NES and SNES Classic consoles. Although there’s still no word on the Ataribox’s game lineup, it’s expected to include a handful of classic titles right out of the box, like Nintendo’s Classic systems.
The Ataribox’s release date has been teased as a vague “late Spring 2018.” For now, fans can plunk down $250 USD-$300 USD on December 14 to guarantee one for themselves — the company teased that early birds may receive a discount. In other news, The Game Awards 2017 were broadcast last week, with several A-List titles taking home key prizes.
Following its recent Box Logo drop, Supreme has announced new additions to its Fall/Winter 2017 collection. The New York-based brand has teased its collection of T-shirts for Winter 2017 with two Instagram posts that show some of the designs.
The first design shows a black and white image of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre by artist Bernie Wrightson on a red tee, with the brand’s name appearing in a vertical red box down the side of the image. The second tee — teased with a short video — features an NSFW all-over skeleton print in festive red and green Christmas colors.
Both tees are expected to drop this Thursday, December 14. While you wait until then, listen to Relentless podcast‘s look at the culture that surrounds the iconic brand.
One Lithuanian basketball team might not have been interested, but another team from the small European country has plans to add LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball to its roster.
As ESPN reports, two of the Ball brothers have signed one-year deals with Lithuanian professional basketball team Prienu Vytautas. Scheduled to report to Vytautas in January 2018, LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball are the second and third American basketball players to join the club in the last decade. ESPN‘s Jonathan Givony reports that the pair probably won’t see “major playing time” in the Lithuanian league, but could be taken to the Baltic League for developmental opportunities. Prienu Vytautas comes from a “small, non-English speaking” south Lithuania village with a population of around 10,000, and currently sits at 4-1 in the Baltic League.
“Salaries for players at this level of competition usually don’t exceed $500 per month in the absolute best case,” tweets Givony. “It wouldn’t surprise me if the Ball brothers ended up playing for free. Certainly not the most glamorous league or part of the world to live in.”
LiAngelo Ball was recently pulled out of UCLA, and will soon receive his own signature Big Baller Brand shoe.
