Vogue Australia’s fashion director and Kanye West‘s go-to YEEZY runway stylist, Christine Centenera and Australian designer Josh Goot have launched a digital venture called WARDROBE.NYC introducing direct-to-consumer luxury outfit capsules.
The prepackaged business model is meant to combat fast-fashion and simultaneously provide fashion solutions at competitive prices cutting out the middleman — a rhetoric we’re familiar with in purview of Trunk Club and Everlane. The duo have designed two product offerings for men and women to streamline the hunt for wardrobe investment pieces: a four-piece wardrobe and eight-piece wardrobe. The eight-piece collection includes tailored essentials: classic long wool coat, tailored blazer, hoodie, crewneck, tee, trouser and baggy pants in black and a collared cotton shirt with french seams in white. The four-piece is an abridged version of the extended capsule offering just the bare workweek minimum with blazer, white shirt, tee and trousers. Priced at $1,500 and $3,000 USD respectively, the fashion authorities placed an emphasis on sourcing elevated materials; as a result, the luxury bundles are made in limited quantities in Italy using hand-picked textiles.
With over a decade of editorial experience under her belt and often serving as Kim Kardashian’s consultant, Centenera and collaborator Goot expect to drop four collections annually following different themes but honoring a timeless aesthetic.
You can now purchase the full collections at WARDROBE.NYC and read an interview done by the pair’s long-time friend Virgil Abloh at Vogue.
Last night, the British Fashion Council announced the winners of The Fashion Awards 2017. Held at the Royal Albert Hall, the star-studded event drew A-list celebrities and icons.
Fourteen awards were given out during the procession, nine of which were voted on by over 2,000 industry veterans. The other five were special recognition awards given to deserving industry figures. J.W.Anderson picked up two prizes, one for his accessory designs at Loewe and the other for the womenswear line of his eponymous label. Virgil Abloh‘s Off-White™ earned the Urban Luxe award, while Craig Green and Raf Simons each won a category of Designer of the Year — British Designer of the Year Menswear and Designer of the Year, respectively. Meanwhile, for her decades-long stint at the eponymous label begun by her late husband, Donatella Versace was recognized as this year’s Fashion Icon.
Check out some footage of the designers receiving their awards below. In other big fashion industry news, Balenciaga has elected to merge its men’s and women’s lines for Fall/Winter 2018..
