As a continuation to previously released minimalistic footwear examples, Japanese brand WTAPS returns with a reissue of its ever-popular Canvas Sneaker 01. Resembling the silhouette of a classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Star, the WTAPS Canvas Sneaker 01 retains a softly patterned toe counter while opting for the use of a smoothed outsole in place of the usual raised stripe detailing seen on the aforementioned All Star silhouette. Featuring gloss metal eyelets, the shoe’s heavy canvas upper is supplemented by a stitched tongue emblem, utilitarian-inspired screen-printed numbers on the outer edge of each respective heel counter with a rubberized “PLACING THINGS WHERE THEY SHOULD BE” tab along the lower most half its rear sole. The WTAPS Low Top Canvas Sneaker 01 is now available in 3 color variations from HAVEN for $204 USD.
One of Shaquille O’Neal‘s signature Reebok shoes is making a comeback with the brand new Reebok Pump Shaqnosis. The lightweight mid-cut model has been updated with a modern Pump P336 system inside the tongue that’s in the shape of a bright orange basketball, yet retains a retro design that’s reminiscent of the first-ever Reebok Pump from 1989. It features a Reebok Royal/White/Sheer Grey/Flux Orange colorway that outfits the shoe in the original Shaqnosis’ hypnotizing blue and white stripes across a leather upper, gray accents throughout, a white Hexalite 5mm midsole, and a herringbone outsole. The Reebok Pump Shaqnosis is now available for purchase online for $150 USD and will be released to global retailers July 10.
When Leo Chang set out to craft the latest version of the Hyperdunk, the Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director looked to evolve the line’s aesthetic while also solidifying its reputation as one of the most technically advanced shoes to ever hit the hardwood. Thus, Chang looked no further than a Nike design that epitomizes the future when visualizing the clean lines and streamlined aesthetic of the new Hyperdunk: the notorious Nike MAG. Incorporating the MAG’s extended collar height and minimalist upper, the Hyperdunk 2015 is a lightweight, responsive shoe that feels like a high-top, but performs like a Low-top. Said Chang of the kicks:
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the silhouette, VILLA and rapper Wale have teamed up with ASICS to craft an Independence Day-themed “Bottle Rocket” edition of the GEL-Lyte III. First teased earlier this month, the design boasts a predominately black upper, donning premium leather paneling as a white star motif appears beneath black mesh overlays. Additional touches are highlighted by patriotic red, white and blue accents across the likes of the laces, branding, speckled midsole and rubber outsole while reflective touches evoke the explosive nature of the shoe’s namesake.
The “Bottle Rocket” edition of the popular split-tongued retro will be available at VILLA in limited quantities beginning June 26.
As previously confirmed by the quarterback himself, Mike Vick’s Zoom Vick 2 is set to receive the retro treatment from Nike and now we have our first look at 2015′s version of the silhouette. Due out this fall as a nod to the 10-year anniversary of the original 2005 release, the kicks retain their OG aesthetics, opting for a red and white leather upper — inspired by the Atlanta Falcons — will incorporating a unique dynamic heel wrap and visible air cushioning in the heel. Finally, Vick’s signature script returns to the tongue while his jersey number hits the toe.
Expect these to hit Nike Sportswear retailers later this fall alongside a number of additional colorways.
