KICKS: Supreme x Air Jordan 5 / ASICS GEL-Lyte V "Burgundy Sunset"/ Nike Air Pegasus '83 "Aloha"/ Saint Laurent SL/01 Low-Top "Red"/ Bodega x Reebok 2015 Ventilator
It’s hard to make ASICS’ GEL-Lyte V silhouette look particularly bad, and here the brand continues its streak of handsome general releases with a burgundy iteration from the “Sunset” pack. Here we find the sneaker outfitted with deep red suede throughout the upper and accented with tonal leather sidestripes. A cushy burgundy neoprene booty rests underneath, which is detailed with hits of orange at the interior lining. Accompanying orange hits at the outsole and a purple touch at the midsole complete this offering from ASICS, which is available at finer retailers such as KITH now.
Originally debuted for the 1984 Honolulu Marathon, the Nike Air Pegasus “Aloha” was designed to celebrate the culture of Hawaii. Nike made nods to that release earlier this summer with the Pegasus 32 “Photosynthesis,” and here decks out the vintage version with two new additions to the “Aloha” series. Here we find the sneaker done up with your choice or either navy or cream uppers, either of which feature hits of suede over floral-printed fabric. This release has been designated to the ladies, who can pick up their favorites over at mita sneakers now.
For a while there, a certain Swooshed brand was running the all-red trend, especially over the summer. Here luxury label Saint Laurent offers a different take on the motif with a very clean red-out version of the SL/01 Low silhouette. As to be expected, the sneaker makes use of premium materials throughout: buffed Italian leather throughout the body and collar; an embossed gold logo at the top of the tongue, and waxed tonal laces set this release off. If in the market for an upscale, subtle release that seems steps ahead of other “red” versions, head to retailers such as SSENSE to pick up this new iteration of the SL/01.
Bodega wasn’t satisfied with capping its collaborative offerings this year – no matter how stellar the Consortium “BDGA” drop came out – and has since dropped another bomb in the form of a new project with Reebok. Considering the brand’s iconic Ventilator silhouette, the joint release is a summary of favorite materials and patterns from Bodega’s extensive repertoire. Accordingly, Bodega imbued the sneaker with panels of black pebbled leather, contrasting blue and cardinal suede, and polka dotted black jersey through the upper. “We’re always trying to reinterpret the past with whatever is front of us,” said founding partner Oliver Mak of the project in a new interview with Sneaker Freaker. Take a first gander at this beautifully complex release from Bodega and Reebok and look for more details as we near a future release date.
