FRESH KICKS: Jordan Spiz'ike "Turquoise"/ visvim 2015 Spring/Summer SKAGWAY HI MERRICK/ Nike Air Max 90 "Fog" JD Sports Exclusive/ Acne Studios Mid-Top "Triple White" Sneaker
Iterations of Jordan Brand’s Spiz’ike are few and far between these days, with the company sparingly dropping a handful of colorways last year – prior to that, the silhouette was last seen back in 2012. It’ll be hard to miss this 2015 release of the sneaker though, with Jordan releasing the “Turquoise” colorway for 2015. Here we find Spike Lee’s fusion design taking on new life with a light blue base layer, which has been accented by navy blue hits laces, tongue, and speckled midsole unit. The charmingly disparate elephant print – a particular signature of the shoe – has here been done with silver relieved into the paneling, creating a nice contrast. Check out the Spiz’ike “Turquoise” here and pick it up from retailers such as Japan’s atmos now, while more patient parties can likely anticipate a stateside release.
Under the watchful eye of founder and creative director Hiroki Nakamura, visvim has released another rendition of their SKAGWAY HI model. Dubbed the SKAGWAY HI MERRICK, visvim’s latest edition for spring/summer 2015 has done well to retain many of the classic design cues for which this particular model has become favored for. Presented as a comfortable high top sneaker, the shoe features a relatively high outsole with a rubber capped toe box and an upper made from visvim’s original MERRICK print chino fabric. Amongst such details, the premium cowhide suede heel chimney has been specially treated for a unique appearance and to assure that no two products are alike. Look for these at select visvim retailers in the coming weeks.
UK-based retailer JD sports presents a new collaborative take with Nike on the iconic Air Max 90 silhouette. The retro sneaker features a dual nubuck and mesh upper rendered in a toned-down dark grey hue, with contrasting white accents throughout. Fans of the iconic Air Max can purchase this “Fog” colorway at JD Sports for a price of £95 GBP (approximately $139 USD).
Stockholm fashion house Acne Studios has unveiled the “Triple White” Mid-Top Sneaker. The modern athletic sneaker boasts an all-white complexion, with two large Velcro straps overlaying its plain leather upper. A padded top collar, leather lining and insole ensures comfort, while a rubber sole rounds out the sneaker with a sporty finish. Made in Italy, the “Triple White” sneaker is currently available from Tres Bien for €450 EUR (approximately $480 USD).
