RIDES: Volvo Debuts Lounge Console Concept at Shanghai Motor Show / Chevrolet-FNR Autonomous EV Concept Unveiled at Auto Shanghai / Lane Splitter concept car splits into two motorbikes

Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, Volvo is debuting its Lounge Console, obviously catered to those who prefer to be chauffeured than to drive. Following Volvo’s introduction of the long wheelbase S60 L on the XC90 Excellence, which removes the third row for a pair of reclining seats, the Lounge Console removes the front passenger seat in addition. In its place, Volvo has incorporated a console with a variety of luxuries which includes more leg room, a 17-inch monitor, tray table, vanity mirror, lock box, shoe drawer, and storage tray. Last but not least, the lucky passenger gets an unobstructed view of the road.

General Motors unveiled the new Chevrolet-FNR recently at the 2015 Auto Shanghai show. The autonomous electric concept vehicle is a futuristic model with a sleek capsule design, dragonfly dual swing doors, magnetic hub-less wheels, electric motors, a wireless auto-charge system, and crystal laser headlights and taillights. Intelligent systems include the self-driving option with the Chevy Intelligent Assistant, recognition start system, sensors and roof-mounted radar. During the car’s self-driving mode, front seat occupiers can swivel 180 degrees to face the rear seats. What do you think of the Chevrolet-FNR Concept car?

If you share a car with your other half then there’s bound to come a time when you both need to use it for different reasons. Well, a new concept design would mean that you could. The Lane Splitter is a car that splits apart and becomes two motorbikes.
