FRESH KICKS: Nike Air Python PRM "Pearl"/ Nike Roshe NM White/Black–Wolf Grey–Pure Platinum/ A Closer Look at the Nike KD7 Elite "EYBL"/ Nike Metcon 1 "Daring Red" / adidas Originals Superstar "Camo Sole" JD Sports Exclusive/ LACED x Le Coq Sportif Zenith "Banana Benders"
While making obvious reference to established basketball silhouettes, the latest iteration of Nike’s Air Python is a premium release meant for off-court stunting. Peep the Air Python “Pearl” – an iridescent off-white version that makes a nod to the sneaker’s original scaly debut in 1987. These features are complimented by a white midsole and an always-welcome ‘Ice Blue’ outsole. While a concrete release date is still unknown, it’ll be hard to miss these beauties when they begin hitting retailers this season for $150 USD.
Nike is introducing another member in its Flyknit Roshe Run NM lineup in the form of the White/Black–Wolf Grey–Pure Platinum. This paricular colorway of the popular runner presents a more minimalistic aesthetic than some recent releases that were characterized by bolder details and threading. The Wolf Grey instead sports a muted grey upper with tonal thread overlay, a clean white midsole and basic black Swoosh. This shoe is available now from Nike and authorized stockists including AFEW for the price of €129.95 EUR (approximately $140 USD).
Nike unveils the latest “EYBL” rendition to the Nike KD7 Elite. Celebrating Nike’s annual Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), the latest KD7 iteration highlights a perforated metallic rose gold upper as contrasting white accents decorate the tongue, insole, and Nike “Swoosh” logo. A white midsole balances the aesthetic as visible springs adorn the back heel unit. An icy outsole finishes the sleek silhouette. Officially the first “EYBL” rendition to release to the public, the Nike KD7 Elite “EYBL” will be available on May 8 at Nike’s online store and select Foot Locker House of Hoops locations.
After launching the new Metcon 1 silhouette, Nike is now rolling out new colorways for the sporty shape. In the “Daring Red” color scheme, the shoe is fitted with a red toecap upper, finished with a gray and black paneled heel upon a lighter gray outsole. The new shoe features a minimal heel-toe drop, maximizing stability for lifting, running and jumping. Natural and durable, the shoe is designed for cross-training and high-powered workouts. This colorway drops April 14, retailing for $120 USD and is available at Nike.com.
The Superstar continues on its campaign of excellence in 2015, here arriving in an exclusive iteration at none other than JD Sports. The English sportswear retailer previously treated its audience to rare white and grey adidas Originals silhouettes last week, but here asserts a more adventurous take on the shell-toe sneaker. The Superstar “Camo Sole” features a supple leather upper, which is accented further with black suede at the heel and hallmark three stripes. All this rests atop a stitched outsole, colored in a deep emerald and grey camouflage. Pick up this version of the adidas Originals Superstar on JD Sports’ website now.
For its very first collaborative endeavor, Brisbane’s LACED was recently tapped by Le Coq Sportif to put its own spin on the Zenith. Dubbed the “Banana Benders,” the kicks nod to Queensland’s ubiquitous bananas, embroidering the fruit on the heel of the left shoe while pairing rich maroon suede with white mesh, a dash of grey, and a classic gum sole unit. Taking things back to 1988, the Zenith’s OG “Pool Green” hue has even been incorporated along the eyestay and custom footbeds.
Limited to just 666 pairs, the “Banana Benders” can be found now at spots like atmos while supplies last.
