NEW THINGS: adidas Consortium ADH 1969 Limited Edition Superstar Watch/ Byredo x Oliver Peoples Scent & Sunglasses Collaboration/ nonnative x SEIKO 2015 Spring/Summer Chronograph/ Damien Hirst "Pill" Jewelry Collection
adidas Consortium has released a new timepiece with the ADH 1969 Limited Edition Superstar Watch. The gold watch contains elements from the adidas Superstar silhouette — one of the brand’s most iconic shoes — and is made of 316 steel with a rubber insert. It features a 48mm case, shoe sole texture on the dial, luminous markers, a rubber shell toe that extends from the case, a quick release bracelet strap option, and Swiss analog movement. Packaged in a special collector’s box, the piece is produced at a limited production run of 500 pieces and is available for purchase at UEBERVART for approximately $520 USD.
Byredo and Oliver Peoples have come together for a collaboration featuring both brand’s fortes — scent and sunglasses. The collaboration is inspired by Los Angeles and the phenomenon of synesthesia: a neurological circumstance where one has a connection between senses, when a smell may trigger a color or shape. According to Byredo founder Ben Gorham, “synesthesia is classified as a disorder but I’ve only heard of it in immensely creative people, so in my mind it’s a gift.” The scent is inspired by Los Angeles’ scenery, with notes of lemon and juniper berries mixed with oris butter, patchouli fraction, musks, warm sand accord and helichrysum. Three different glass bottles encase the scents, each representing different perspectives of Los Angeles. To complement the scents are a pair of Oliver Peoples wayfarers, touting a semi-black frame and beige crystal lenses. The two items come packaged in a wooden box, and the set will be available next month.
In celebration of Japanese select shop vendor’s 10th anniversary, nonnative have created a bespoke chronograph watch with SEIKO for the spring/summer season. This follows up the duo’s first collaborative effort in 2012, and features an updated matte black stainless steel case with a slightly enlarged face with a clean monochromatic color scheme. The well-balanced design is completed with a choice of a khaki or black band depending on what you feel like. Priced at ¥63,000 JPY (approximately $529 USD), the nonnative x SEIKO Chronograph is limited to 500 pieces and is individually numbered. Purchase a piece at vendor locations and online at COVERCHORD.
Damien Hirst has unveiled an ornate collection of jewelry cast in the form of pills and embossed with the logos and compound numbers of drugs. Exclusively available from Other Criteria and with each piece engraved with the artist’s signature and edition number, the collection is a revisiting of the one that was initially unveiled at Hirst’s retrospective in Qatar two years ago. Available in both white and yellow gold, the pieces can be picked up online while supplies last with prices ranging from £1,750 GBP (approximately $2,600 USD) to £25,000 GBP (approximately $37,100 USD).
